Viên

Viên là một studio về gốm có xuất xứ từ làng gốm truyền thống tại thành phố Hội An, tỉnh Quảng Nam., qua mỗi sản phẩm Viên muốn gợi nhắc đến hình ảnh thân thuộc và bình dị của làng quê Việt Nam, qua đó mang đến cho khách hàng một cảm giác bình yên của cuộc sống nơi thôn dã, tạm rời xa những nhộn nhịp, hối hả nơi phố thị.

About Vien:

Vien is a ceramic studio originating from a traditional pottery village in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province. Through each craftwork, Vien’s desire is to awaken the reminiscence of the nostalgic and rustic scenes of Vietnamese countryside, thereby offering its customers a tranquil sense of rural life to escape the everyday metropolitan hustles.

Ý nghĩa tên gọi

"Viên" là một từ Hán - Việt, có nghĩa là hình tròn. Trong văn hoá Việt Nam, hình tròn từ lâu đã mang ý nghĩa tốt đẹp, tượng trưng cho bầu trời trong câu chuyện Bánh chưng bánh dày, và còn được coi là đại diện của sự luân hồi, vĩnh hằng của dòng chảy thời gian bởi không có điểm bắt đầu và kết thúc. Trong làm gốm, hình tròn là hình ảnh ta rất dễ bắt gặp bởi hình ảnh chiếc bàn xoay, chiếc đĩa, miệng bình. "Viên" không chỉ gắn liền với gốm về mặt hình thái mà còn mang trong mình niềm hy vọng rằng những làng nghề thủ công, những nét đẹp văn hóa sẽ tồn tại mãi với thời gian.

The meaning of “Vien”:

“Vien” is a Sino-Vietnamese word, which means circle. In Vietnamese culture, the circle has long manifested good messages, as it symbolizes the sky in a well-known folk story “Banh Chung Banh Day”. Furthermore, it strongly signifies the everlastingness and eternity of time, thanks to the absence of a starting and an ending point. In pottery making, the circle can easily be seen and recognized via the wedging table, plates, or vase’s mouth. “Vien" is not only related to ceramics in terms of geometrical form but also carries with it the wishful hope that craft villages and cultural heritages will last forever over time.

The Logo:

Logomark: Roosters are closely associated with the Vietnamese rural lands. Roosters crowing at sunrise signals a brand new working day of the farmers. At the hour of the Rooster in Vietnamese zodiac, when the roosters return to their coops, it is also time for folks to get home to a cozy family dinner. Rooster, or a flock of roosters, is the depiction of Vietnamese farmer’s wishes of prosperity and good fortune.

Logotype: The font is inspired from the entrance of Thanh Ha traditional pottery village.

The meaning of the Logo: Through the combination of the rooster and the potter’s kiln, Vien conveys the close bond of Thanh Ha pottery with the lives of Quang Nam’s people, which reminds of the tranquil peace of Quang Nam province and is always an emotion crutch offering its people comfort in times of turmoil and duress.

Inspired by the rustic way of living in Vietnamese countryside. Vien launched a set of 3 products: Dien Vien, Doan Vien, Vien Man.

Dien Vien set:

Consists of ceramic craftwork usually seen in the garden, such as jars and plant pots, providing with a peaceful ambience of the countryside, which helps break away from the urban hustles.

Doan Vien set:

Consists of household ceramic pieces, such as ceramic charcoal stoves, pots, and bowls. It offers warmth to the family atmosphere and accompanies us in each and every gathering occasion.

Vien Man set:

Consists of decorative products that boost our mental health such as tea pots and flower vases, contributing to the richness of spiritual lives of any peace-loving souls.
